Encounters & projects

 

The work of the IEC’s research staff requires them to seek encounters with people and organisations with a professional or personal interest in questions relating to use of administrative detention. Those encounters provide important new perceptions, ideas and projects that enhance their research.

These were the topics of the exchanges that the IEC had with people who were subjected to administrative detention and other compulsory welfare measures. The result was a short film (39’). Learn more

Four witnesses of the times, the president and the two vice-presidents of the IEC as well as Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter took position at the press conference and at the final public event   How is it possible to explain administrative detention and how can people deal with this past today? What meaning does the rehabilitation of victims have? These were the topics of the exchanges that the IEC had with people who were subjected to administrative detention and other compulsory welfare measures. The result was a short film (39’).   Letters, dialogues, stories, testimonies or poems by writers pick up elements that are treated also in historical research. Fiction transmits to the readers a strong image of the past injustice and of the consequences it had.

Vernissage   «Es muss in die Schulbücher!»   Meething with ATD Quart Monde
On Monday, 11th March 2019 the vernissage of the first of the IEC’s publications, entitled «Gesichter der administrativen Versorgung – Porträts von Betroffenen», took place at the Swiss Federal Archives. The vernissage opened also the touring exhibition and the series of events organised by the IEC.   Den von administrativen Versorgungen betroffenen Personen und der UEK war es stets ein Anliegen die Thematik auch für Schülerinnen und Schüler zugänglich zu machen. Die PHBern hat deshalb im Auftrag der UEK und unter Miteinbezug von Zeitzeugen didaktische Materialien erarbeitet.   As in the autumn of 2016, on 25th November 2017 the movement ATD Vierte Welt invited the IEC to a meeting in its headquarters in Treyvaux (Canton of Fribourg).
